The sharing of research results has been shown to accelerate scientific discovery, support reproducibility, validate research results, and increase citation counts. In an effort to enable the research community and others to access and build on the results generated by IDRC-supported research projects, the Centre has made a commitment to support openness. The purpose of this blog is to inform Centre staff about developments in the movement to make knowledge open. Open knowledge is defined as any content, information or data that people are free to use, re-use and redistribute — without any legal, technological or social restriction. It can be seen as a superset of open data, open content and libre open access.
